"Quake the Creator", born Michael Edwards Jr., discovered his artistic abilities at an early age.  “When I was about 7 or so, my mom had me tracing cartoons when I would get mad that I couldn’t draw them right.  Eventually, I didn’t need the tracing paper.  That was the beginning of the beginning”.  Fast forwarding to high school, Quake already had the solid reputation as “The boy that could draw.”  As he grew, He saw how the world viewed him & where he stood.  Through the hardships of growing up in his slowly declining city on the Southside of Atlanta, he saw what road he would need to take to not end up with the same results as his either dead or incarcerated peers.  “When people would ask me what I do & I said ‘Artist’, They ALWAYS thought I was a rapper.  I couldn’t blame them, though. That’s all that was going on.  Either you played sports, rap, or was a street dude. Of course I’d tell them I was a visual artist.  Just seeing the surprise on their face was proof enough of how one-track minded the people around me were. I found it amusing.”  Quake took these almost identical opinions and used them as fuel to better his craft as an artist.  Upon graduating from Riverdale High School, He received college acceptance letters from both The Art Institute of Atlanta & Savannah College of Art & Design.

During his college years as he attended the Art Institute of Atlanta, Quake began to experiment with other forms of media such as charcoal, aerosol, & acrylic paint, all the while still walking through the art world alone.  “I didn't know ANY artists. In my mind, I was the only artist around and even if it were true (which I know it wasn't), still nobody gave a fuck".  This time was a period of growth for the young artist looking for his style and creativity.

The artist, Quake, now with vast amounts of experience under his belt & currently finishing his associate’s degree from DeVry University as a Graphic Designer, has begun to take flight as an “artist on the scene”. From art shows to live art sessions, Quake has developed works that invoke questions & inspiration within the viewers of his works.  He continues to develop his arsenal of works as he uses media including but not limited to charcoal, graphite, ink, aerosol, and digital illustrations. “I don’t know where my art will take me, but I do hope it meets as many eyes & minds as it can.  Regardless of how I’m perceived or stereotyped, I just want to make sure my artwork ALWAYS remains bigger than me. In the end, it’s not about me, it’s all about the art and it always has been.”
